The Coalition of Governments and International Organizations on Global Public Investment (GPI) continues to build political momentum, bringing governments and international partners together to shape the future of international cooperation.
Together with the Government of Uruguay, in its capacity as Chair of CELAC, the Coalition concluded a high-level mission to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, strengthening engagement with African governments, regional institutions and international organizations.
Over four days, the mission held 16 high-level bilateral meetings with representatives from 12 African countries: Algeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo. Discussions also took place with the African Union Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the European Union Delegation to the African Union.
Across these engagements, governments expressed interest in the Coalition as a platform for political dialogue and practical cooperation on development finance and shared global challenges. The meetings provided opportunities to exchange priorities, explore avenues for continued engagement and advance the Coalition’s work.
The mission also strengthened ties between Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean, supporting Uruguay’s efforts to deepen cooperation between CELAC and the African Union and opening new avenues for collaboration around shared priorities.
Building on this momentum, the Coalition will continue working with governments and international partners to develop a more inclusive system of international cooperation, grounded in shared responsibility and equal participation.
The next milestone will be the Coalition’s High-Level Meeting during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, bringing partners together to advance a shared agenda for the future.
